Reflection

This experience of P3, is really very enriching. It gives me a gauge of how production would be like for a solo animation short film. My mistake is that i do not plan my timeline properly, and end up having insufficient time, leading to me cutting down on animations, which in turn affects my story telling.

What i have taken away from this is, prioritizing my time to doing which scenes to complete first. I will be also working on my style, to improve it much further.

script

Commentator 1: Hello there and welcome back to the most exciting match of the year between leaveherfool and cheesey. Lets watch the replay of the tackle cheesey suffered, and now they are awarded a penalty.

Commentator2: Yes thats right. If they score this penalty, they'll be kicking leaveherfool out of the premiere league right away.

Fan: No.

Commentator 1: What in the world? Say pete, have you seen anything like this before?
Commentator 2: Hell no paul, this is insane. I think one of the fan just shot the player

1st june- Progress

Today's interim was okay. I still havent got my audio done for my first part, so it was abit hard for the class to understand. Amanda commented on my run cycle, i will try to improve on it, including the timing for my whole animation sequence. Right now, im still cracking my head on how to show the fan getting angry and anxious about the penalty kick, and how to show the continuity of him firing the shot

25th may- Progress

Oh my.....deadline is just 2 weeks away. Interim is 5 DAYS AWAY!!! i still havent animated half..i have to work faster. Less thinking, more doing. haha, i think my weakness is i think too much into doing something, then i create more problems for myself to solve. In the end, the time taken up is way too much.

20th may- Progress

ahh...character design is so stressful, i cant focus on my p3. I am trying my best already...but im still confident i can do it. I have now, drew and finalised a few more shots, but i have yet to do them in flash. P3 is suppose to be like a dry run for FYP, so now, im really quite worried about FYP. Its really very stressful..but for my FYP, i was thinking of doing it in 3D. Still considering.

16th may- Progress

Its saturday today, haha. I have animated done abit of my animation already. Although i am way behind schedule, im sure i would be able to complete my work in time. I just have to perservere=) haha. But, drawing is really a problem for me, especially all the perspective and angles..nonetheless, i'll try my best=). Although the upcoming interims are not graded, i will still try to take it as its graded, this would help me motivate me further to push myself.

13th may-Progress

I havent been touching much of p3 yet, because character design is realy very stressful. I am having some problems with my 3d model. But, im not slacking on my p3 either, haha, im still working on my storyboards. I want to simplify it more, so that animation would be easier, but i would still be able to tell my story, i think what i need would be some audio to assist me.

9th May-Progress

Right now, i have fixed on my style and story already. But animation would be really tough. I have thought about it on how i am going to tackle the animation process. Doing the running scenes would be really tough, so i will be avoiding running scenes in my animation.

This project is going to be tough, because we all have to juggle character design side by side. Its really very taxing....good luck to me.

UPDATE!!

I had consultation with Alan yesterday. I showed him my storyboards, but he commented that it wasnt detailed enough. He still couldnt understand the story at one go. So, i will be doing up a better storyboards.

He also suggested that, i could write in to a local soccer commentator, to do voice recording for me. But in order to do that, i will have to sell my story with a detailed storyboard, one that anyone can understand without me explaining. Thats all for my storyboard.

Regarding my character designs, Alan urges me to get it done ASAP. to get the style settled. HAHA, i will do my best to get it done soon, because its really difficult to draw. Thanks for all the help Alan=D

improved storyline

I have changed my story a little bit already. Right now, the two teams that are playing with each other are Leaveherfool and Qiaosee. They originated from the name liverpool and chelsea, haha. Anyway, its the striker from Leaveherfool that will get shot, but not in the head anymore. He'll get multiple shots on his body, and they will fight with each other, both the striker and the crazy fan.

I will exaggerate the whole animation. The striker will not die, its like how family guy works. Both Stewie, the baby, and Bryan, the dog. Both of them will never die, no matter how much they fight with each other using guns and other weapons. haha. My toughest problem now is the character design and how to make the crazy fan appear.

story questions

1. Who are you telling the story for (primary audience)?

Soccer fans. Age group- 16-25

2. What reaction do you want?

Intensity and nervous

3. Is the narrative omniscient (all seeing) or restrictive (viewed from a single perspective)?
(If the narrative is restrictive, whose viewpoint are you using?)

Omniscient

4. List the important events of the story.

1. The planning of the attack

2. Courtroom hearing

3. The match

5. Which aspects of the setting of the story are important (time of day… location… period of history…) and how do you intend to establish these important elements?

The planning of the attack and the court room hearing are the most important. Because it shows the reason behind the attack and the outcome. I intend to establish that by having a good story accompanied with good animations and editing.

6. What traits of the characters in your story are important and how do you intend to establish these traits?

My main characters include the judge, the lawyer and the accused. I have to show the character through their job. Like for the judge and the lawyer, it will be shown during the court hearing when they interrogate the accused. The accused character traits are shown during the planning of the attack and the attack itself.

7. In what order are the important events (step 4 above) covered? Is it a strictly linear sequence of events in time, or does the story contain any flashbacks or other interruptions to the sequence of events?

This story is told in a non-linear sequence, It starts off in the courtroom hearing, which is nearing the end of the story. There will be flashbacks involved.

8. How does the story flow, does the pace change? Does it contain a surprise? Consider your answers to 1 and 2 above when making your response.

The pace will change through out the whole animation. It will be fast paced, slow paced and then fast paced again.

9. How will you use sound to help all your responses to 5-8 above?

Intense soundtrack and sfx of the surrounding noises.

10. Does your story need dialog?

no.
(write out the dialog)
